Lunch at a coast restaurant. With Sid's parents. Out for a visit. Staying at the Fairmont.

"When a Jewish man marries a non Jewish woman,"he is no longer a part of the family," his Mother said.

We were on the back deck. Benches. Picnic tables covered with white table clothes. Draft beer.

Didn't know what to say. Said nothing.

"We understand that you were married before," Sid's Father said. Sounded like he thought he was changing the subject.

Sid said. "Dad, wait till you try the bread pudding here."
