Tied to the dock of a nearby canal were four boats with words painted on them. On every visible surface welcoming words ran across the dark blue-painted wood of which these boats were made.

Beneath a hand-painted Water Taxi advertisement, four water taxi women sat on the dock, dangling their legs in the water. They were spreading peanut butter from a jar onto bread and passing the sandwiches they made to each other.
